Ofsted Registered

Ofsted are the governing body of the education system which includes pre-schools, private nurseries, childminders, nurseries and schools.

Childminders have the same legal obligation to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage, just as the teachers of nursery and reception in primary schools have to.

As early years practitioners we have to adhere to the same guide lines which are inspected by Ofsted. The legal obligations of being Ofsted registered are as follows:

  • Undergo an initial Ofsted inspection visit
  • Undergo a graded Ofsted inspection within 6 months of original visit and then every three years
  • All over 16 year olds within the setting are enhanced CRB cleared
  • Practitioner must hold a 12 hour paediatric first aid certificate that is renewed every 3 years
  • Complete a course in home based child care
  • Register with the local Environmental Health Agency
  • Complete training in Safeguarding Children to be renewed every 3 years
  • Have full public liability insurance
  • Adequate car insurance for business use
  • To keep full detailed records, signed contracts, permission forms and child development records.
  • Practitioner must adhere to the Early Years Foundation Stage Guide Lines
